Servant Leadership

A philosophy for guiding a group that involves flipping the typical hierarchy of “power at the top” and instead focuses primarily on the growth and wellbeing of those being led. Servant leaders put the needs of others first and help people develop as much and perform as highly as possible. The term was first coined by Robert K. Greenleaf in a 1970 essay called “The Servant Leader.”
